Yes! Preschool Storytime is held on Thursdays at 10:30 am. Parents, grandparents and care givers are welcome to enjoy this time of stories, finger plays, songs and more.

1. How do I reserve a park shelter?

There is no cost for renting park shelters. The City asks that the shelter areas be cleaned of debris and food when you have finished using them. Park shelters can be reserved by calling City Hall at (515) 233-2670 or Reserve a Shelter.

2. Where is the best place to park when attending soccer matches or baseball/softball games at Upstill Park?

Upstill Park has a parking area off Park Avenue just past the entrance to the park. Parking is also available in the elementary school parking lot during non-school hours.

1. How do I report a pothole?

Requests for pothole repairs can be made by calling the City Shop at (515)232-0971.

2. Is parking allowed in the right-of-way?

City Ordinance 2-2.1012 Non-Traveled Areas
Unless specifically authorized, the parking of vehicles on the “parking,” sidewalks, driveway aprons, or other unsurfaced or non-traveled portions of the street right-of-way is prohibited.
Parking in the right-of-way reduces visibility for drivers and makes snow removal more difficult. Please park vehicles in driveways to avoid citations.

1. How do I avoid sewer back-ups?

The city’s sewers are designed to dispose of very specific things. Using your toilet for disposal of many modern products will often result in blockages. The drains that connect your home to the main sewer are only big enough to carry water, toilet paper, and human waste – often no wider than four inches.

The property owner is responsible for all service pipes up to and including the connection to the main.

1. How do I sign up for water service?

Sign up for water service by filling out this form and submitting a deposit payment of $100.00 to city hall prior to moving in.

2. How can I tell if I have a water leak?

Toilets can account for up to 30% of your water use, so you should check to ensure they’re running properly. To test for leaks, add a few drops of food coloring into your toilet tank and wait 10 minutes. If the color shows up in your bowl, then you have a leak allowing water to flow from the tank to your drain without ever flushing the bowl.
Leaks don’t just happen inside the home – they occur outside as well. Check your outside spigots to make sure the connections are not leaking and that the spigot was shut off properly.
Inspect all accessible connections at the water heater, pumps, washing machine hoses and valves for oxidation or discoloration – clear signs of a slow leak.
